About CLAT
Law as a career begins with the right entrance exam
Law is pursued at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral level. After Class 12, students can join five-year integrated LLB programmes such as BA LLB, BBA LLB, BSc LLB or BCom LLB; graduates can take a three-year LLB, followed by an LLM and a PhD.
Law graduates today work not only in courts but in corporate houses, law firms, legal agencies and administrative services, with growing specialisations in cyber law, patent law and corporate law alongside criminal and civil law.
The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is used for admission to participating National Law Universities (NLUs). The undergraduate exam assesses English language, current affairs and general knowledge, legal reasoning, logical reasoning and quantitative techniques. Students should practise reading comprehension and applying reasoning skills to unfamiliar passages.
